OOLER
vs.
BedJet 3

The OOLER is a water-based (hydronic) cooling and warming system, utilizing a control unit/water chamber and a mattress pad that circulates the water through water tubes underneath you. We compared the OOLER to the BedJet 3, an air-based climate comfort sleep system for beds which does not require use of a mattress pad. While both products are effective solutions for sleep temperature control, we tested each in our engineering lab to demonstrate their differences.

The OOLER was installed per the manufacturer’s instructions and not modified in any way.

Amazon Reviews

OOLER

Dock Pro System

Manufacturers have total control over website posted reviews, so we look to third party sources like Amazon for unfiltered customer feedback. Both the OOLER and chiliBLANKET products (produced by parent company Sleepme Inc., formerly Kryo, formerly Chilitechnologies) lag far behind BedJet with honest customer feedback. As the #1 selling product in the entire bed climate comfort category, BedJet leads the industry with the highest number of posted consumer reviews. In fact, when reviewing percentage of 5-star reviews for products with over 500 reviews, BedJet is one of the highest customer-reviewed products in the entire mattress category on all of Amazon.

OOLER Water vs. BedJet Air:
Water Doesn't Dry Sweat

Comfort in bed isn’t just about temperature, it’s also about sweat. Humidity in the microclimate under your sheets can rise 20% from trapped body perspiration, a big factor in feeling hot and stuffy. Water loop systems like OOLER simply cannot dry sweat or pull trapped body moisture out of your bed — that would be beyond the laws of physics! In contrast, BedJet's silky quiet air circulating technology is clinically proven to rapidly pull body moisture out of the bed. BedJet even has a proprietary sweat-drying mode to keep you fresh, dry, and comfortable all night long. Watch the Sweat Test to see for yourself. (Sweat Test shows a generic cooling mattress and not the OOLER.)

Cooling & Warming Drag Race

We verified that the OOLER can provide mattress surface temperature control. But which product is more powerful and faster at cooling (heat removal) and warming? Take a look at the infrared camera drag race to see how much faster BedJet's air-based ultra-rapid cooling and warming is compared to the OOLER. According to the FAQ on OOLER's product page, it can take up to an hour for the OOLER to reach temperature when going from cool to warm or vice versa. In contrast, BedJet's air-based cooling and warming is felt within seconds.

OOLER Water vs. BedJet Air:
Water Can Leak in your Bed

Leaky plumbing, leaky roofs, dripping faucets! Home owners know water can find ways to be in places you don’t want it. Water-based (hydronic) systems like OOLER and its sister product chiliPAD work by circulating pressurized water into your bed. Undetected water leaks in your bedding have the potential to ruin your sleeping space. With BedJet's air-based climate control technology there's absolutely zero risk of water affecting your sleeping environment.

Remote Controls

OOLER App

  • No remote control option available; requires a smartphone app and OOLER login account to function
  • Adjusts temperature by degree from coolest to warmest
  • 3 different fan settings (silent, regular, boost)
  • Low water notifications
  • Can pre-program temperature cycles
  • Can set temperature vs. time

BedJet 3 Remote + App

  • Use remote control or app; so you can turn your phone off at night if you wish
  • Regulate bed temperature by degree (above ambient)
  • 20 different fan settings for airflow
  • Dynamic compensation for bedroom temperature changes
  • More individually tailored sleep settings
  • Can set temperature vs. time

Impact on Mattress Comfort

Like BedJet, the OOLER works with any mattress. But unlike BedJet, using an OOLER means altering the sleep surface performance of your mattress. Want to enjoy the body contouring support of your memory-foam mattress, the springiness of a Purple grid, or the softness of a pillowtop mattress? The OOLER adds a layer of pressurized water tubes between you and your mattress. Per Amazon reviews, some users report the pad's water tubes can be felt when slept upon, and you can see them snaked through the mattress pad in the infra-red photo. BedJet does not change the feel or performance of your mattress — no water tubes, wires, or other “layers” to sleep on top of. All cooling, warming, and sweat drying is done above and around you under the sheets. With BedJet, you get to keep the feel and comfort of the mattress you love.

Maintenance

The air-based BedJet is a nearly maintenance free product. Simply remove the lifetime washable air filter and rinse clean in the sink once every three months. While the OOLER system has improved upon its Cube Sleep System predecessor—it now has a built-in UV light to clean the internal workings of the unit—the OOLER still requires a steady supply of water to keep the reservoir full (recommended to be distilled), and the pad itself should be periodically washed.
